Hey, Leafless

Who says your writing is second-rate? And what if it is? Big-name authors aren't going to beat a path to our site to compete with you. Read our contest description and rules. We're doing this to discover new talent. This could be your big chance! No fee means no risk. Enter as many times as you like. Even non-winning pieces may get published if they're really good. This could be an opportunity to get some editorial advice on your writing (no promises, depends on how many submissions we get since there are only the two of us on staff to judge them all); we'd like to be able to offer a brief comment, at least, on the non-winning entries.

The main thing is, if you want to be a writer, give it a try.

Already, you've done better than most with your comment. The spelling and grammar are flawless, and you communicated effectively!

Ideally, I should take a crack at this. Unfortunately, my writing is second-rate. :(

Thanks for taking a look at my stories. I get a gut feeling first. It can come from something I hear or see or experience. Then characters come into my head who seem to personify that feeling. They belong somewhere, a particular place, which becomes the setting. Sometimes it's just a moment in their lives. Sometimes the story reaches into the past and future. But it all starts with a feeling. Mother-daughter relationships generate strong emotions. --kathleen
